On November 27th 2021, our community had a chance to welcome Mr. Luan - Co-founder & Game Business Owner and Ms. Ying Wu - Partnership Manager of The Wasted Lands to join an AMA to deliver helpful information about the key features and roadmap of the project.
This AMA was held by CryptoFamily Group – the top crypto community in Vietnam, where investors and traders can obtain the latest news and signals from bot/ admins, as well as discuss and share investment experiences in the crypto space.

1. Firstly, please introduce about yourself and Wasted Lands
Wasted Lands: Cool! My name is Luan, I’m the co-founder of The Wasted Lands and I’m in charge of the game production. I used to work at Amanotes, VNG, and Zitga before I started my own journey. So far, projects that I participated in have more than 1 billion downloads on Android and iOS.
Hi. My name’s Ying. I’m partnership manager of the project.
On the game production aspect, before starting everything together, our team worked separately at Gameloft, Gear Inc, IEC, Hiker, VTC, Amanotes and Zitga. We’ve been involved in many great projects, such as Asphalt 9, Minion Rush, Dungeon Hunter 5, Magic Tiles 3, Tiles Hop, Summoners Era,... as Game Designer Lead, Tech Lead, Art Lead and Marketing Lead.
Our blockchain team consists of 5 core full stacks developers with 4 years of in developing defi, smartcontracts and blockchain core. The team is lead by an experienced Product Manager who has 4 years of building fintech products, 2 years of experience in building disruptive blockchain innovations, an enthusiast contributor on different blockchain such as: Wax, Incognito, EOS…
For Growth team, we have 12 members, including 1 growth director, 1 marketing director and 10 members accross functions. With strong focus on the community, we have 3 dedicated members to support our community members. Let's start with a brief intro about the The Wasted Lands: Wasted Lands is a match-3-RPG game with a post-apocalyptic theme. Its main mission is to discover the secret of the biological pandemic happens in 2062, which wipes out 90% population and causes human - animal mutation. In order to do that, you will have to gather your team, fight against others, explore the world and collect pieces of evidence.
2. Next, can you share with us the vision and goals of Wasted Landst in late 2021 - 2022?
Ms Ying Wu: We’re well planned for TWL in the next period. In December, 2021, you may witness a bunch of new projects, but the market will still in lack of games that is well-balanced between FUN & EARN. The Wasted Lands will be there to solve the problem. Our goals for 2021 is to release the MVP of the game, and let players try the main gameplay and earn from it.
In order to do that, we will have many big events coming up:
- NFTs sale from Dec 5th - Dec 10th
- IDO on Dec 12th
- MVP release on Dec 20th
3. Can Wasted Lands talk about some outstanding features that can make your project stand out and give it a competitive edge among competitors who are constantly making new updates and offering new products?
Ms Ying Wu: Yup. We proudly say that The Wasted Lands is a match-3-RPG game with a post-apocalyptic theme. Its main mission is to discover the secret of the biological pandemic happens in 2062, which wipes out 90% population and causes human - animal mutation. In order to do that, you will have to gather your team, fight against others, explore the world and collect pieces of evidence. For match-3 gameplay, you may think of Candy crush or Bejeweled as an example. We hope this classic gameplay would attract mass users as it is really familiar and easy to play.
In short, we have 3 unique selling points:
1. Match-3 gameplay + hero collection + post-apocalyptic theme = the unique role-playing and tactical team building experience in exploring the story.
2. The free-to-play mechanism, giving our users a closer look at the game before making an investment.
3. A really exciting way of creating new NFT warriors. This is where you can actually create a warrior with a lion head, steel-armor body with giant eagle wings, and cyborg’s arms. You can have access to this via breeding/mating and fusion.

PART II: PRE-COLLECTED QUESTIONS FROM TWITTER
1.From @duetdaily: I see that the Wasted Lands has a dual token, $WAL and $WAS. Could you explain to us what is the utilities of these tokens in Wasted Lands ecosystem? As well as what profits Wasted Lands will offer through both tokens for the investors?
Mr. Luan:
$WAL is the governance token of The Wasted Lands.
- Use to Buy/rent NFT assets.
- Use to fuse & give birth (breeding/mating) to next generation of NFTs warriors.
- Staking.
- Pay services fee on marketplace
- Governance
- Buy exclusive merchandise & auction for NFT game assets
$WAS is the utility token and can be earned by playing the game.
Use cases of $WAS:
- PvE and PvP rewards
- Burn to Upgrade higher level NFTs items (equipments, lands, pets…) from in-game resources.
- Burn to level-up Tier & Membership
- Burn to speed up research & production in-game
Since WAS is our utility token, it will be the main rewards of the game. Players and Investors can earn it by playing games (any mode).
Regarding WAL, the rewards from WAL would be in PvP tournaments or special events only.
2. From @Nguyenhuybach12: The three key game mechanism in The Wasted Land ecosystem includes: first, Rank and Matchmaking, secondly, Regular tournaments and Competitions and thirdly, Game Balancing. Can you kindly explain, each of these key game mechanism and how they are implemented in your ecosystem?
Mr. Luan:
- Ranking and Matchmaking system: in our PvP mode, players will be matched with opponents of the same power to make sure the battle will start balanced. As players win from PvP, they can earn ranking points and list on our seasonal leaderboard. Rewards will be given at the end of each season, the higher rank the more rewards.
- Tournaments: apart from the standard PvP mode (Arena), we will hold special PvP events known as Tournaments. Players have to deposit token to participate in tournaments, but the rewards for winner would be much bigger than the standard PvP. There will be betting features for players in tournaments, too.
- Game balancing: since this is a match-3 RPG, the strategy will vary from how you'd match the gems or choosing your line-up (formation).
For example, a team of 1 Damage Dealer - 1 Supporter - 1 Tanker would likely to have an advantage over a team of 3 Supporters.

3. From @Ashleyhanna33: The Wasted Lands will launch a marketplace, where players can buy warrior NFTs, pets and equipment. Subsequently they can fuse and breed warriors to grow or enhance their army. Which varieties of warrior NFTs, pets and equipment will be available in your marketplace?
Mr. Luan: As per the NFT warriors, there is 3 main factions, which are Survivors (pure human), Hybrids (half human - half animal), and Ex-Company (human with high tech, cyborgs). The factions have advantages over others like Hybrids > Survivors > Ex-company > Hybrids.

Apart from factions, we also have Roles of NFT Warriors, which are Damage Dealer - Supporter - Tanker. Therefore you’ll have multiple strategies to build your team. A good tips in buying NFT warriors is to make sure you have the role you need. The detailed designs and stats of Equipments and Pets are being developed. We'll let you guys knows as soon as it's ready. One more thing, to help players understand the warriors traits and skills and also the strategy in match-3, we will release the Wiki of Wasted Lands and keep it updated frequently.

4. From @Aleenm333: Play to Earn games are becoming more popular, however most of the existing games that use this concept are too expensive for newbies. Will your games be affordable and accessible to the general public, or have you taken any steps to appeal to a wider audience?
Ms. Ying Wu: It’s an undeniable fact that high entry cost is the main problem of most NFT games. We have a solution to this, with our Free-to-play mechanism and Renting feature.
Free-to-play mechanism:
The Wasted Lands gives out free non-NFT warriors for all players at the beginning of the game to join freelyThese free warriors are default to all players. Thanks to this, free players can enjoy the game and gain tokens while playing in PvE campaign mode. All token earning from default warriors will be locked and players can only withdraw these token if they have at least 1 NFT warrior. For users who own NFT warriors, they can freely trade and access all the game functions.
Renting:
Owners of NFTs can put their unused assets for rent to generate better income. “Renting with collateral” and “Renting without collateral”. Please see whitepaper slide 11th for more details.
5. From @hexipham368: What are the important principles put in place in your ecosystem that gamers need to adhere to? What is the audience of gamers that The Wasted Lands attracts & targets? What are your marketing plans to attract more users/ investors/ users in your community?
Mr. Luan: The main principle would be the balance between Fun & Earn. Unlike most other NFT games, you won't find the big earning purpose in The Wasted Lands. We focus more on building a game that players enjoy, like we did with traditional games. Earnings will be there but it's minor. About our audiences, we are targeting players that want real fun. At first, we will reach Tier 3 countries such as South East Asia, Latin America. Then we will expand to other countries as the game grows.
We have 12 members in our Growth & Marketing team and have co-op plans with 10+ communities to spread the news. We won't push too many users at first. Actually, we will try to scale our audience gradually to get sustainable growth.
This would benefit the players and investors in both short-term and long-term as the new users will be controlled

Mr. Luan: let's start with a general question first! In my opinion, NFTs are arts, but the way we use the arts would add more value to the NFTs. Thanks to gamification, the art assets that you own can cast spells, fight and bring you more benefit.
